R. Ezra Malki (1710-1768), was a son of the famed R. Refoel Mordechai Malki, (father-in-law of the Pri Chodosh and R. Moshe Chagiz). He studied under R. Michoel Melamed. Known as a tremendous Talmid Chochom, he was appointed as a SHaDaR on behalf of the community of Tzefas. This led to his appointment as the Rov of the community of Rhodes. A prolific author, his other Seforim include Shemen La’Maor, and Ein Mishpat.

ר’ עזרא מלכי (ת”ע- תקכ”ח, 1710-1768), היה בנו של ר’ רפאל מרדכי מלכי (חמיו של הפרי חדש ור’ משה חגיז). למד תורה אצל ר’ מיכאל מלמד. נודע כתלמיד חכם עצום ומונה לשד”ר של הקהילה בצפת. עובדה זו הובילה למינויו לרב בקהילת רודז’. חיבר כמה ספרים, ביניהם שמן למאור ועין משפט.
