Rare book documenting the heroic post holocaust relief efforts of Chief Rabbi Yitzchok Herzog. In January 1946 R. Herzog undertook a strenuous nine month journey across war torn Europe, in an effort to aid and encourage survivors. He visited Italy (where famously he met the Pope and demanded the return of Jewish children hidden in Monasteries), France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Germany, England, Czechoslovakia and Poland. During the course of his travels, he met with heads of state and diplomats, as well as with tens of thousands of survivors sparing no effort to help the Jewish people. This sefer published by S.Z. Shagari upon R. Herzog’s return, provides a small glimpse of his yeoman efforts to assist the survivors.

ספר נדיר המתעד את מאמצי הסיוע האמיצים של הרב הראשי ר’ יצחק הרצוג לפליטי השואה. בינואר תש”ו (1946) יצא הרב הרצוג למסע מאומץ בן תשעה חודשים ברחבי אירופה הקרועה, במאמץ לסייע ולעודד ניצולים. הוא ביקר באיטליה (שם כידוע פגש את האפיפיור ודרש את החזרת הילדים היהודים מהמנזרים), צרפת, שוויץ, בלגיה, הולנד, גרמניה, אנגליה, צ’כוסלובקיה ופולין. במהלך מסעותיו נפגש עם ראשי מדינות ודיפלומטים, כמו גם עם עשרות אלפי ניצולים, ולא חסך כל מאמץ לעזור לעם היהודי. ספר זה שיצא לאור על ידי ש. ז. שגרי עם שובו של ר’ הרצוג, מספק הצצה קטנה למאמציו הכבירים לסייע לניצולים.
