Rare edition of the classic work Kovetz He’oros by R. Elchanan Wasserman, published by his students in Shanghai 1945.
One of the greatest miracles of the Holocaust was the well documented story of the escape of nearly the entire Mir Yeshiva, as well as other Yeshiva students from Europe, to Shanghai. The students published various seforim in Shanghai. Although R. Elchonon had been murdered a few years earlier in 1941, apparently his talmidim in Shanghai were unaware of this, and refer to him on the title page as being amongst the living.

הנס המתועד היטב של בריחת ישיבת מיר כמעט בשלמותה ותלמידי ישיבה רבים מישיבות אחרות מאירופה לשנחאי, הינו מהנסים הגדולים ביותר של השואה. תלמידים אלו הוציאו לאור ספרים שונים בשנחאי. אף על פי שר’ אלחנן נרצח כמה שנים קודם לכן בתש”א (1941), נראה כי תלמידיו בשנחאי לא היו מודעים לכך, ולכן כתבו עליו בעמוד השער שליט”א.
