Polemic responsa permitting the establishment of an Eruv in Frankfurt-am-Main on Shabbos, by R. Nechemya Tzvi Nobell. Many of the Halachic issues discussed in this sefer remain pertinent today, particularly in large cities.
R. Nechemya Tzvi Nobell (1871-1922), was born in Hungary and studied at the Berlin Rabbiner-Seminar, following which, he served in the Rabbinate of Cologne from 1896 to 1899, and then for several months in Konigsberg. From 1901, he served in the Rabbinate of Leipzig, from 1906 in Hamburg and finally, from 1910, in the Rabbinate of Frankfurt. He was particularly active in promoting increased religious observance, in communities that had drifted away from traditional Judaism in addition to his efforts on behalf of the Zionist movement.

ר’ נחמיה צבי נובל (תרל”א- תרפ”ב, 1871-1922), נולד בהונגריה ולמד בישיבה הרבנית בברלין. אחר שנות לימודיו כיהן ברבנות בקלן בין השנים תרנ”ו- תרנ”ט (1896-1899), ולאחר מכן מספר חודשים בקוניגסברג. משנת תרס”א 1901 כיהן כרב לייפציג, ומשנת תרס”ו 1906 בהמבורג. לבסוף, משנת תר”ע 1910, קיבל את תפקיד הרב בפרנקפורט. היה פעיל במיוחד בקידום שמירת התורה והמצוות המתעוררת ביישובים שהתרחקו מהיהדות המסורתית בנוסף למאמציו למען התנועה הציונית.
