R. Chaim HaCohen (1585-1655), studied under R. Chaim Vital in Tzefas and later served as Rav in Aleppo. In the introduction he writes how he traveled from Syria to Venice in order to print his seforim, however owing to with various tribulations including storms and pirates, most of his manuscripts were lost. He reconstructed a small part from memory which he published in this sefer.

ר’ חיים הכהן (שמ”ה- תט”ו, 1585-1655), למד תורה מפי ר’ חיים ויטאל בצפת, ואחר כך כיהם כרב בחלב (ארם צובא)
בהקדמה לספר הוא כותב כיצד נסע מסוריה לווינציאה על מנת להדפיס את ספריו, אולם תלאות הדרך, ביניהן סערות ושודדי ים, גרמו לו לאבד את רוב כתביו. בספר זה הודפסו חלק קטן מהם אותם שיחזר מזיכרונו.
עם חותמות ספריה של ר’ גדליהו שמלקעס (תרי’ז- תרפ’ח 1857-1928), רב בקולמיאה ואח’כ מפשמישל.
