“A study of Episodes in the Lives of Great Torah Personalities”, by R. Nosson Kamenetsky (1930-2019).
In 1987, R. Nosson Kamenetsky retired from his position in the ITRI Yeshiva and began exhaustive research into the life of his father, R. Yaakov Kamenetsky. This research resulted in these comprehensive 1400-page books published by HaMesorah publications, consisting primarily of analysis of episodes of the lives of sixty eminent rabbinic personalities. This work was to be the first of four volumes on these subjects. Only a limited amount of copies were produced, as R. Nosson felt that this work was not for the general public. Immediately after its publication, an uproar ensued, as some felt that some of the matters described should not be recorded for posterity. Eventually a controversial ban was placed on the book, resulting in most of the copies getting destroyed. The books were later republished in a revised version.

חקר האפיזודות בחייהם של גדולי התורה, מאת ר’ נתן קמנצקי (תר”צ- תשע”ט, 1930-2019).
בשנת תשמ”ז (1987) פרש ר’ נתן קמינצקי מתפקידו בישיבת איטרי והחל במחקר מקיף על חיי אביו ר’ יעקב קמינצקי. תוצאת המחקר הייתה ספר כוללני זה בן 1400 העמודים שיצא לאור על ידי ”המסורה”. הספר הכיל בעיקר ניתוח פרקי חייהם של 60 רבנים גדולים. חיבור זה אמור היה להיות הראשון מבין ארבעה כרכים בנושאים אלה. רק כמות מוגבלת של עותקים הודפסה, שכן ר’ נתן הרגיש כי הספר אינו מיועד להמונים. מיד עם הוצאתו לאור התחוללה מהומה, עם תחושה מסוימת שישנם בו כמה פרקים שאינם מתאימים לשימור לדורות הבאים. בסופו של דבר הוטל איסור, שנוי במחלוקת על הספר, וכתוצאה מכך נהרסו מרבית העותקים. אחר כך הודפסו הספרים שוב בגרסה מתוקנת.
