R. Moshe Dovid Ashkenazi (1774-1856), was born in Galicia to R. Asher Anshel, who was a descendant of R. Shalom Shachna of Lublin, the Shach, the Taz, the Chacham Tzvi, the Tosfos Yom Tov and others. At the age of 29, he was appointed Rav and Rebbe in Tolchova, Hungary. In 1843, he emigrated to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Tzefas where he led the Ashkenazi community. He corresponded with the Chasam Sofer and the Yismach Moshe. Father in-law of the Yetev Lev of Sighet and great-grandfather of the Satmar Rov.
With stamps of R. Shlomo Friedman of Chortkov (1894-1959), son and successor of R. Nochum Mordechai Friedman of Chortkov and grandson of R. Yisroel of Chortkov.

ר’ משה דוד אשכנזי (תקל”ד- תרט”ז, 1774-1856), נולד בגליציה לר’ אשר אנשל, מצאצאי ר’ שלום שכנא מלובלין, הש”ך, הט”ז, החכם צבי, התוספות יום טוב, ועוד. בגיל 29 מונה לרב ואדמו”ר של טולטשווא, הונגריה. בשנת תר”ג (1843) עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בצפת שם הנהיג את הקהילה האשכנזית. התכתב עם החת”ם סופר והישמח משה. חמיו של הייטב לב מסיגעט וזקנו של האדמו”ר מסאטמר. עם חותמות של שלמה פרידמן מצ’ורטקוב (תרנ”ד- תשי”ט, 1894-1959), בנו וממשיך דרכו של ר’ נחום מרדכי פרידמן מצ’ורטקוב, ונכד ר’ ישראל מצ’ורטקוב.
