R. Chaim Shabtai (niftar 1547), was one of the most distinguished rabbinical figures and Poskim of his era. He served as Chief Rabbi of Salonica, and received halachic queries from across the globe. These were published posthumously under the title Toras Chaim.

ר’ חיים שבתאי (נפטר ב-ש”ז 1547), היה מנכבדי הדמויות הרבניות והפוסקים בתקופתו. הוא שימש בתור הרב הראשי לשאלוניקי, וקיבל שאלות רבות מכל קצוות תבל. השאלות והתשובות נדפסו לאחר מותו תחת הכותרת “תורת חיים”.
