Halachic responsa by R. Yehuda Greenwald. Part one. Two variant editions.
On pages 156-157 there is a lengthy responsum (dated 1913), written to R. Yosef Chaim Sonenfeld, expressing disbelief that R. Sonenfeld was associated with the Agudas Yisroel movement, and includes an extensive exposition of R. Greenwald’s opinion of Agudas Yisroel. This responsum was omitted and replaced with another in a second edition, printed the same year, also included in this lot.
R. Yehuda Grunewald (1845-1920), was a talmid of the K’sav Sofer; R. Aaron Dovid Deitsch; R. Dovid Fischer and R. Dovid Schick. Renowned as a great Talmid Chochom, he served as Rav in various important communities including Bonyhad and Satmar. In Satmar, he led a great Yeshiva which was one of the most prestigious in Hungary. Author of various seforim including Zichron Yehuda and Shevet M’Yehuda.

בעמודים 156-157 ישנה תשובה ארוכה (מתוארכת לשנת תרע”ג-1913) לר’ יוסף חיים זוננפלד. בתשובה מביע הכותב תדהמה נוכח הצטרפותו של הרב זוננפלד לתנועת אגודת ישראל ומוסיף הבהרה ארוכה על דעתו לגבי אגודת ישראל. תשובה זו הושמטה במהדורות מאוחרות יותר והוחלפה באחרת.
ר’ יהודה גרינוולד, (תר”ה-תר”פ 1845-1920) היה תלמידם של ה”כתב סופר”, ר’ דוד דייטש, ר’ דוד פישר ור’ דוד שיק. נודע כתלמיד חכם עצום וכיהן ברבנות במספר ערים מפורסמות ובכללם בוניהד וסאטמר. בסאטמר הוא עמד בראש ישיבה גדולה שהייתה אחת הנחשבות ביותר בהונגריה. חיבר ספרים שונים ובכללם “זכרון יהודה” ו”שבט מיהודה”.
