R. Yitzchok Ben Shmuel Adarbi (c. 1520-1572), was a disciple of R. Yosef Tiatzik. Known as an eminent Posek, he was appointed as Rav at a young age and was one of the great Rabbonim of Salonika. The author writes in the introduction that he named the sefer Divrei Rivos (words of contention) as many of the halachic responsa seek to resolve disputes.

הרב יצחק בן שמואל אדרבי (ר”פ – של”ב, 1520-1572) היה תלמידו של הרב יוסף טאיטאצאק. פוסק ידוע, אשר בצעירותו נתמנה לרב קהילת סלוניקי והפך לאחד מגדולי רבניה. המחבר כתב בהקדמתו שקרא לשם ספרו “דברי ריבות” מאחר שרוב השאלות והתשובות באו ליישב מריבות.
