R. Yechiel Ashkenazi was a 16th-century Kabbalist who was a member of the Castellazzo family, who were of German origin and settled in Castellazzo near Alessandria in Northern Italy. R. Yechiel resided in Austria, Salonika and Tzefas, before settling in Jerusalem in 1565.
Includes one of the earliest printed versions of the song “Bar-Yochai” by the Kabbalist R. Shimon Labi.
