Autograph letter concerning a separation between a couple caused by health issues. R. Yellin speaks of his great anguish caused by the haste of the dissolving of this union and how perhaps had he been consulted earlier it could possibly have been avoided. He continues that although now it is too late to repair the damage he feels it necessary to pour out his distress caused by this episode.
R. Aryeh Leib Yellin (1820-1886) was one of the most outstanding disciples of the Volozhiner Yeshiva learning primarily under R. Yitzchok of Volozhin and as a study partner of R. Naftoli Tzvi Yehuda Berlin (Netziv). He served as Rav in Yashinovka and later in Bilsk. He was held in enormous esteem as one of the most prominent rabbinical leaders of his era, and received Halachic queries from far and wide. His magnum opus Yefai Einayim was received with great acclaim and from its first printing in the Vilna Shas has been included in almost every edition of Shas. Author of Pnei Aryeh on the Yerushalmi, Kol Aryeh and Mitzpeh Aryeh.

מכתב אוטוגרפי העוסק בפרידה בין בני זוג בעקבות בעיות רפואיות. הרב ילין מבטא את כאבו העצום על המהירות בה התפרקה ברית נישואין זו ועל האפשרות שהגירושין היו נמנעים לו התייעצו אתו בשלב מוקדם יותר. בהמשך הוא כותב שעל אף שמאוחר לתקן את המעוות, הוא חש צורך לבטא את הצער שנגרם לו בעקבות מקרה זה
ר’ אריה לייב ילין (תק”פ-תרמ”ו 1820-1886) היה אחד התלמידים המצטיינים בישיבת וולוז’ין, תלמיד מובהק של ר’ יצחק מוולוז’ין וחברותא של ר’ נפתלי צבי יהודה ברלין (הנצי”ב). הוא כיהן כרב בעיר יאשינווקא ולאחר מכן בעיר בילסק. הוא התקבל בהערכה עצומה כאחד המנהיגים הרבניים הבולטים בתקופתו, ושאלות הלכתיות הופנו אל פתחו מכל רחבי הגולה. ספרו “יפה עינים” התקבלה בהתלהבות רבה, ומאז הדפסתו הראשונה בש”ס וילנא הוא נכלל כמעט בכל מהדורת ש”ס. מחבר הספרים “פני אריה” על הירושלמי, “קול אריה” ו”מצפה אריה”
