A fascinating historical drama based on Talmudic and rabbinical sources on the life of R. Yehuda Ha’Nassi compiler of the Mishnah. With important introduction entitled Toldos Rabbeinu Ha’Kodosh. Authored by R. Moshe Kunitz.
R. Moshe Kunitz (1774-1837) served as Rav in Breslau. Apparently he was associated with members of the “Enlightenment” and quotes Mendelsohn in his introduction. Although for many years his introduction was printed anonymously in most editions of Mishnayos, recent publishers have chosen to omit it.
