R. Pinchos Ha’Levy Horowitz (1730- 1805) was one of the most prominent disciples of the Magid of Mezritch. He served as Rav in various communities including Vitkova, Lechowitz and most notably Frankfurt. He was renowned as a great Rav and Posek as well as a prolific writer and is often known as “The Haflo’ah” after his sefer on Tractate Kesubos. His most notable disciple was the Chasam Sofer.

ר’ פנחס הלוי הורוויץ (ת”צ-תקס”ה 1730-1805) היה מבכירי תלמידיו של המגיד ממעזריץ. הוא כיהן כרב בקהילות שונות כולל ויטקווא ולכוביץ, וכהונתו המפורסמת ביותר הייתה בעיר פרנקפורט. נודע כרב ופוסק גדול וסופר רב פעלים שנקרא “בעל ההפלאה” על שם ספרו על מסכת כתובות. תלמידו המפורסם ביותר היה החתם סופר
