In both dedications R. Ovadia lauds R. Sorotskin with the customary honorifics and then requests that R. Sorotskin reciprocate by sending his works Oznayim L’ Mishpat and Oznayim L’ Torah respectively.
R. Ovadia Yosef (1920-2013) was born in Baghdad and grew up in Jerusalem. Author of many halachic works he was the preeminent leader and Halachic decisor of the Sephardic community in recent years.
R. Zalman Sorotskin (1880-1966) learned in the great yeshivas of Slabodka and Volozhin. Son in law of R. Eliezer Gordon of Telz, he served in various rabbinical positions in Lithuania most notably Luztk after which he is known. In 1940 he immigrated to Eretz Yisroel where he served with distinction as head of the Va’ad Ha’Yeshivos, Chinuch Aztmai and the Council of Torah Sages.

הרב עובדיה יוסף (תר”פ-תשע”ג 1920-2013) נולד בבגדד וגדל בירושלים. חיבר יצירות הלכתיות רבות והיה מנהיג העל והפוסק ההלכתי של קהילת עדות המזרח בשנים האחרונות
הרב זלמן סורוצקין (תר”מ-תשכ”ו 1880-1966) למד בישיבות סלבודקא וולוז’ין המעטירות והיה חתנו של ר’ אליעזר גורדון מטלז. הוא כיהן במשרות רבניות שונות בליטא, כולל כהונתו המפורסמת בלוצק. בשנת ת”ש (1940) הוא עלה לארץ ישראל, שם עמד בראש ועד הישיבות, החינוך העצמאי ומועצת גדולי התורה
