    CHIEF RABBI NATHAN MARCUS ADLER. TERM OF OFFICE 1845-1890
    ? Autograph letter in English. Dated 5647 (1887) on the letterhead of the office of the Chief Rabbi in London (although the Chief Rabbi lists his address a where he spent his final years). The letter reads: “My dear Sir, Mrs. Adler and I thank you for your kind wishes and sincerely reciprocate them. May Almighty G-D grant us a year of happiness and salvation. Yours truly, N. Adler”.
    Fine condition.

  • Printed calling card reading: “The Rev. Dr. N. Adler Chief Rabbi of the United Congregations of the British Empire”. On the reverse; dated in Hebrew, but written in German, a short signed note.
  • Printed side faded, with some markings.

    a book (in German), which, in the words of Rabbi Adler “is indeed indispensable
    to a Jewish Minister”, and concluding with personal matters.

    ? Typed letter, signed in English, dated May 1924. On letterhead of the office of
    the Chief Rabbi, written to Rabbi Mischon, thanking him for sending a scholarly
    article.

    ? Typed letter, signed in English, dated Aug 1935. On letterhead of the office of
    the Chief Rabbi, written to Professor Lutzki, thanking him for sending the review
    on The Pentateuch which appeared in a newspaper.

Telegram dated 1945, during his tenure as Senior Jewish Chaplain to H.M. Forces, written to Lieutenant Beret, congratulating him on receiving his M.B.E.  Autograph letter, dated June 1965, written to Rabbi Langer, thanking him for his warm wishes upon his retirement. Makes mention of Dr. Jacob Herzog, whom Rabbi Brodie refers to as “a worthy son of a most worthy father”.

  • ? Printed card thanking recipient for message of congratulations and encouragement on his election as Chief Rabbi of the British Commonwealth. With additional handwritten message initialed by the Chief Rabbi.

  • Lot includes printed picture postcard of Rabbi David Nieto (1654-1728), who served as the Hakham of the Spanish and Portuguese Jewish community in London from 1702. With signature of Rabbi Moses Gaster (1856 –1939), Hakham of the Spanish and Portuguese Jewish community from 1887. Printed by Kunst and Verlags of Breslau.
